San Marcos Basketball: Affordable Access to Sports

San Marcos Basketball: A Romanian Immigrants Mission to Make Basketball Accessible - Hilda Mateiu, a former national team player, started free basketball practices in her cul-de-sac during the COVID pandemic. She founded the nonprofit San Marcos Basketball to provide affordable access to the sport for local youth. The program offers low-cost options, scholarships, and teaches a teamwork-focused European style. Despite challenges like high gym rental fees, Mateiu aims to create a fully free program, finding joy in seeing kids grow into high school stars.
