Sanctuary Cities Lest We Forget Historical
from Lest WE Forget Historical
In today’s episode of Lest We Forget Historical, host Lillian Cauldwell delves into the origins of Sanctuary cities in the United States—when they were first established, why they emerged as safe havens for immigrants seeking protection, and the principles that guided their creation. Fast forward to today, an executive order from the current administration has redefined the concept of Sanctuary cities, stripping away their ability to provide refuge and reshaping their role entirely. This order goes further, challenging birthright citizenship, suspending the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, and declaring a national emergency at the border. What does this mean for immigrants, including those born on U.S. soil? Tune in to explore how these actions impact the Constitution, justice, and the very fabric of our nation. Don’t miss this critical discussion on the shifting landscape of immigration and sanctuary in America.
