What this episode covers

Had the last King and Princess of wicked Ys, returned after three thousand years? Why were they creating an exact replica of Stonehenge on their New Jersey estate? What was the Mael Bennique, the Breaker of Chests? And what was the dread Gatherer in the Cairn? And can men and women really be turned into shadows and made the helpless slaves of the one who transformed them? Ethnologist Dr. Alan Caranac (who may just be the reincarnation of the Alain de Carnac who brought about the destruction of sinful Ys and its evil rulers) has to find out the answer, for one of his best friends has been killed, and perhaps transformed into a shadow, while his fiancee Helen, her brother, Bill, and the famed Dr. Lowell have already been marked for death or worse! But first Alan will have to enter the tower of the Demoiselle Dahut de Ys in New York and journey through it thousands of years into the past to her tower in the legendary city from which she draws her name. And then return, if he can! Welcome to the Sanctum Secorum podcast. Tonight we return to the printed page as we discuss A Merritt's Creep, Shadow! while pairing it up with a Harley Stroh classic, The Bride of the Black Manse.

Inner Sanctum - Old Time Radio theaterofthemind-otr.com All available episodes. Inner Sanctum was a hugely popular Old Time Radio series created by producer Himan Brown. It was based on the popular Inner Sanctum mystery series of books. It aired from January 7, 1941, to October 5, 1952. Inner Sanctum featured tales of mystery, horror and suspense, with a mix of humor. That humor was what made Inner Sanctum different from similar horror and mystery series like Suspense, or The Whistler aired during the golden age of radio. Each episode started with the sound of a creaking door, some creepy organ music, followed by the opening narration. It's been said that the listening to the show was like celebrating Halloween every week. Many established stars played roles or were guest stars in the series, including Peter Lorre, Helen Hayes, Mary Astor, Frank Sinatra, Bela Lugosi and Orson Welles. Of the several hundred episodes of Inner Sanctum that aired, only about 150 survived. CBS Radio Mystery Theater - All Episodes From 1974 theaterofthemind-otr.com Contains all available episodes from 1974. CBS Radio Mystery Theater was a noteworthy attempt to revive in American radio dramas like Inner Sanctum (1941-1952) and Suspense (1942-1962). Radio dramas were widely considered "dead" 12 years prior to this series. CBS Radio Mystery Theater, or simply Mystery Theater, was created by Inner Sanctum creator Himan Brown and ran on CBS from 1974-1982. The show, much like older radio dramas, was introduced by a host (in this case E.G. Marshall), who steers us through the creaking door to start the episode. Many voices from the golden age of radio were featured, including Richard Widmark, Bret Morrison and Agnes Moorehead.
