Members of the South African National Defence Force have begun deploying across parts of the Western Cape from today, as part of a wider national effort to combat crime. More than 2,200 soldiers have been deployed to patrol crime-ridden areas in the Western Cape, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Free State and North West. The deployment forms part of Operation Prosper and is set to continue until March 2027 We now speak to Ian Cameron, the National Assembly Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, who is on site in the Cape Flats where these operations are underway, to bring us the latest update on how they are progressing...
