Sandhill's Dock Report: DockHounds Edge Cleburne Railroaders 8–6 | 2026-08-09
from The Prairie Score: Sandhill's Lake Country Baseball Breakdown · host The Sandhill Engine
A lake can look calm... and still hide a rock three feet under the keel. Tonight the DockHounds built a house on solid ground — twelve hits, zero errors, an eight-run foundation... then watched Cleburne kick the porch steps loose in the ninth. The door held. The screen door rattled. Eight to six... and the marsh swallows the rest. You're listening to Sandhill's Dock Report from Louie's Dock — Lake Country baseball, filed from the marsh. I'm the Sandhill. Tonight: the DockHounds pour a Prairie foundation... then hear it crack in the ninth.Cleburne came out swinging like a tourist with a fly rod and no waders... two runs in the first, off the dock and into the drink before the beer was cold. The Hounds answered quick — one in the first, one in the second — and you could feel the place settle. Tie game. Foundation level. Then the fourth inning... three runs. The sixth... three more. That's the Prairie School right there — not one big tower, but a long horizontal line that just keeps reaching across the landscape. Nineteen-twelve souls in the seats... and the joint had the bones of a Wright original. Twelve hits. Zero errors. Nobody over-swinging, nobody reaching past their spot. Structural harmony... the way a well-built eave sheds rain without asking for thanks. For six innings, the DockHounds were the prairie — low, broad, unshakeable. Then the ninth rolled in like a rogue wave and the shoreline got interesting. Three runs in the ninth... bases tightening, that eight-two lead shrinking like a puddle in August sun. But the foundation held. Eight to six. A win's a win... even when it makes you chew through your own lip. Sebastian Rodriguez gets the mark in the win column... and the dock creaks but stays standing. The pattern tonight is plain as a walleye's belly. This lineup is the load-bearing wall — twelve hits, two three-run innings, nobody waiting for somebody else to start the fire. But the late wobble... three runs in the ninth... that's a crack in the mortar. The offense is doing its job. The bullpen's making the job harder than it needs to be. You know what tonight was? It was a house that looked finished... until you stepped on the back stair and heard the groan. The Hounds won because their framing is true... but a foundation that groans in the ninth is a foundation worth watching after dark. The bobber's still up... but it's riding lower than it ought to be. Pull up a chair at louiesdock.com for the full game log, player lore, and the next cast.
