Sandra Birchmore Case: Farwell’s Note Said WHAT?!

from The Murder Of Sandra Birchmore Hosted by Hidden Killers Podcast

In the federal trial over Sandra Birchmore's death, prosecutors have discussed a goodbye note Matthew Farwell allegedly wrote on June 24, 2024. It was the day a forensic pathologist's homicide conclusion became public. The note reportedly asked a friend to help raise Farwell's children and care for his wife, and suggested the two would meet “on the other side.” It was originally cited in a fight over his pretrial detention. That history limits what can be said about it. Prosecutors considered the note relevant to Farwell's possible risk of fleeing, but conceded he did not run. The defense disputes the broader case against him and maintains Birchmore died by suicide. An unusual response to news of an investigation can be discussed without pretending it settles how Birchmore died. William Farwell, Matthew's twin, testified with immunity that his brother told him about wiping phone data. Prosecutors allege Matthew killed the pregnant Birchmore in her Canton apartment and staged her death in February 2021. He has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges concerning her death and that of her unborn child. The government rested on October 28, 2026, and the defense began presenting evidence. The other issue is what happens if a jury convicts a former officer. Farwell faces a possible life sentence. Prison officials would have to evaluate threats and housing options, but no placement or specific protective arrangement has been decided. Prior police work can be a relevant security factor; it cannot establish what will happen to an individual inmate. Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis, retired FBI behavioral expert Robin Dreeke, and host Tony Brueski consider both issues: how much weight a jury should give the note and the phone testimony, and how corrections personnel assess a high-profile defendant if a conviction follows. The allegation, the verdict, and the possible sentence are different stages of the case.
