Sandy Alomar Jr. and the Guardians' 10K Win Milestone | Cleveland Guardians News

The Cleveland Guardians are moments away from reaching 10,000 all-time wins—joining the Red Sox and Yankees as the only teams since 1900 to achieve it. Sandy Alomar Jr., who arrived in ’89 as part of a rebuilding effort, has been there through it all—playing 11 seasons and coaching 17, making him a living part of nearly a quarter of those wins. He recalls the gritty 90s, when Cleveland made five straight playoffs and won two AL pennants, and remembers iconic moments like clinching the AL Central in ’95 and hitting a game-changing homer in ’97 that forced a Game 5 against the Yankees. Though the World Series drought since ’48 still lingers, Alomar remains convinced the Guardians are just getting started—and that their time to break through is coming.
