Santa’s Little Helper: A Monster Child Turns Christmas Eve into a Bloodbath

A small-town Santa gets a new helper whose smile contains far too many teeth. Charles Campbell’s “Santa’s Little Helper” follows Ronnie Baxley through a bitter Christmas Eve at a South Carolina tree-lighting celebration. His usual elf is missing, the pay is poor and the people in line offer little kindness. Then a strange child named Sarah volunteers to help—and seems unusually sensitive to cruelty. This dark holiday creature story turns humiliation and resentment into a partnership Ronnie never expected. Someone is finally taking Santa’s side. That may be terrible news for everyone else.
