Santos Steps Up as Leiter Misses Time
from Sports News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Texas Rangers gamble on raw talent as Winston Santos, despite shaky minor league stats and control issues, gets the call to fill in for injured starter Jack Leiter. Meanwhile, Jos Corniell — who struggled in his last big-league outing — may be headed back down if Santos fails. With Leiter sidelined and Montgomery’s return uncertain, the Rangers are throwing the kitchen sink at the mound, hoping Santos’ 100-mph fastball can turn things around — or at least buy time until the future is ready.
