This is a golden opportunity for the former world No. 31, and a strong run in Paris over the coming days could potentially help revive his career.  However, that seems unlikely at the moment, as he hasn't won a main-draw match at a tour-level event since Wimbledon last year and hasn't defeated a top-20 player since the Australian Open in 2023.
