Saskatoon Arena Vote Set to Launch | Calgary News

Saskatoon’s facing a major civic showdown over a proposed downtown arena — and the people might get to vote on it. Former arena manager Ken Wood is rallying residents to gather 26,000 signatures in 90 days to force a referendum. While Mayor Cynthia Block champions the new venue as essential for attracting big-name entertainment and staying competitive, Wood argues renovating the existing SaskTel Centre would be far cheaper and unnecessary for NHL-level upgrades. Funding remains uncertain, with only provincial promises so far, and the city is exploring Indigenous partnerships while rejecting U.S. management bids. The petition could launch next week — and this debate could reshape Saskatoon’s future. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
