Satan The Hybrid Angel: Seraphim, Cherubim & Divine Shapeshifters

What exactly was Satan before the fall? In this episode of Free The Rabbits, Joel dives into the strange world of angelology to investigate whether Satan may have been something far more complex than simply a fallen Cherub or Seraph. We explore the ancient divine hierarchies, the bizarre forms of Cherubim and Seraphim, and Ezekiel's mysterious description of an “anointed guardian cherub.” Then we follow the serpent trail from the Nachash of Genesis, to the shining Helel ben Shachar, and finally Revelation's identification of Satan as “that ancient serpent.” But if angels are spiritual beings capable of assuming physical forms, could Satan do the same? And could the different descriptions of him point toward a strange hybrid heavenly being capable of changing its appearance? From Genesis 6 and the Watchers to 2 Enoch's Satanail and even the mysterious parallels found in the Popol Vuh, we're going deep down the rabbit hole to ask one question: What kind of angel was Satan really?
