"Saturday Night's" Wide Release Is (Finally)

It should come as no surprise that the beginning of this long-running program wasn't nearly as smooth as many of the finished products today look, as dramatized in Saturday Night, Jason Reitman's furious account of the hours just before the first broadcast on Soap2Day Movies Free. On October 11, 1975, Lorne Michaels was under a lot of pressure. It was 10 pm, and he was almost ready to go live with the first episode of Saturday Night. One of his stars, John Belushi, hadn't signed his contract and wasn't cooperating. Despite this, Saturday Night Live continues to be a cultural institution, offering audiences ninety minutes of comedy sketches and musical performances every weekend.
