Saving the sky: How we’re protecting the ozone layer

This week, Enviroscope focuses on World Ozone Layer Day, celebrated on September 16. If you are wondering what the ozone layer is? It is the part of the atmosphere located between 20 and 50 kilometres above the earth's surface. Its main role is to absorb the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. These rays cause sunburns that are harmful to health. And in commemoration of this year’s event, the UN and several organisations are calling for continued action to restore and preserve the ozone layer within the framework of the Montreal Protocol.
