Say it in Red | Episode 15: We Know The Devil

We are speaking to you over radio waves leaking through a broken keyhole. Summer is over, but that sickening feeling of sweat against your skin won't leave until we're well into October, like most things that follow you even as you flee from one season to the next.This week, Sara and Runa go to summer camp in September! The woods! The campfires! The blaring voice of God crackling over the radio to shame you for your every inner thought! We Know The Devil is about three teens, Jupiter, Neptune, and Venus, who hate their vaguely christian-ish themed and existentially withering summer camp. Their group is always coming in last place. They're always taking the brunt of everyone else's criticism and the Bonfire Captain's unwanted attention. They're always having to deal with the smug chuckles of Group South while they climb the telephone poles to fix radio sirens. But tonight, they're going to meet The Devil. In an isolated cabin far from the rest of the campers, deep in the woods and mosquito-bitten wilderness, Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune spend the night trying to distract themselves from what they all already know for certain: One of us is the Devil. I think... I think it's me.We Know The Devil (2015) is a visceral and atmospheric visual novel about messy teens in a summer camp that hates them nestled in a forest that might love them far from a society that definitely wants them to shut up and fail. It's hard to describe exactly what it's about without giving everything away, but it's an exceptional horror game with fairly simple routes and an extremely satisfying narrative payoff.
