Rather than allowing them to go to waste, volunteers sorted and sold them cheaply, raising money for charitable causes and giving thousands of flowers a second life.That opens up another question too.How many flowers are flown thousands of miles, used for one event, then simply thrown away?The Flower Box rescues blooms from weddings, supermarkets and funerals and repurposes them into bouquets, dried arrangements and confetti, while supporting local charities and community projects. It is practical, slightly eccentric, and rather British.We also look at why flowers affect us so strongly. Surveys suggest a large majority of people say flowers improve their mood, while receiving them can make people feel appreciated, loved and remembered.
