Say Our Goodbyes
from ohthatdansurman Hosted by Dan Surman
Over Under Through is Dan Surman's most quietly devastating record — 11 tracks about the fathers we misread while they were alive and only truly see in hindsight. Folk-pop fingerpicking, piano-driven farewells, Americana strings and late-night jazz-pop nihilism move through grief, gratitude, mortality and the specific anguish of conversations that never happened. Surman doesn't sentimentalize loss — he maps it with the precision of someone who has lived inside it long enough to know its exact dimensions. The hardest album to listen to. The one you'll return to most.
