Scalley Takes Over Utah Football | Utah Utes Football News

Morgan Scalley, who spent nearly two decades rising through Utah’s football program—from administrative assistant to head coach—is finally stepping into the spotlight he’s always dreamed of. After a whirlwind transition when longtime coach Kyle Whittingham left for Michigan, Scalley took over mid-season, coached the bowl game, and quickly assembled a new staff while navigating the chaotic transfer portal. Players rave about his hands-on, relentless energy, as he pushes for a culture of being smart, nasty, and relentless—his signature RSNB ethos. Despite losing some talent, he’s kept key players like QB Devon Dampier and is building a competitive roster through strategic transfers. With deep roots in the program—having played there and with his dad a former player—he’s even donated $2 million to the school. Scalley’s ready to lead with his own style while honoring Utah’s tough, proud identity.
