Scanner News for Monday August 12, 2024

from Panhandle Scanner News · host Brian Hale

It's time for Panhandle Scanner News, I'm your host, Brian Hale. Let's take a look at our major headlines and what's happening around the Panhandle for Monday, August 12, 2024. We put out an Aurora alert on Friday night, and sure enough, the skies did not disappoint. We also had the Percy meteor shower as well as the Aurora Borealis. The pictures were captured by local followers of the scanner news. Follow our Facebook page at Panhandle Scanner to check out those cool photos. By Troy Brian, Cheryl Kozad, and Pepper Shrewsbury. Unfortunately, the weather was not so cooperative with the recent balloon fest, with all flight plans giving way to other activities. And again, we want to remind everybody about the bridge work on Broadway. The city offers two major alternative routes. One is Avenue I or Highway 71 on the west side of town, and on the east side of town, you can use the Heartland Expressway just on the other side of the Sugar Factory. Again, that bridge work on Broadway will be ongoing, so expect delays and detours. And speaking of bridges, there was a bad accident on the bridge on 79 Link between Highway 26 and 92 near Melbeta Friday morning. Witnesses reported a pick up with a topper in the ditch and someone in the driver seat, with troopers on scene assisting. And good news came from scanner follower Denise Sanders as she reported that drivers are okay. Lots of prayers offered there during our accidents that we report on Panhandle Scanner. Also, don't forget our public record every Monday through Friday when available, with Daily Jail rosters, inmate search tools, daily specials from our sponsor Main Street Market, recent arrests and arraignments, and court appearances. All available at PanhandleScanner.com. With Scanner News, thanks again for listening and may God bless. I'm Brian Hale.
