Schaefer’s Road to Redemption | Texas Longhorns Basketball News

Vic Schaefer’s Texas women’s basketball team is hungry for redemption after last year’s Final Four heartbreak, with the coach still convinced his squad was the best. He’s confident in his returning stars—Madison Booker, Bryanna Preston, and Breya Cunningham—who’ve weathered his demanding style and are ready to lead. With eight new players joining the roster, Schaefer knows integration will be tough, but he’s embracing the challenge, especially with standout newcomer Jayda Clark—a dominant rebounder and sharp shooter with international experience. To prep for the grueling SEC season, Texas is facing UCLA and UCONN in October exhibitions, not for hype but for high-stakes growth. These games are vital for young players to gain experience against elite competition before the regular season, setting the foundation for a championship push.
