Schall We Talk Episode 16 - Chaos in the Kitchen

from Schall We Talk with Robyn Schall · host Robyn Schall

This week on Schall We Talk, Robyn officially enters her bride era (she picked her wedding dress!) and then immediately descends into absolute cooking chaos.Robyn heads into the kitchen to try viral cloud bread… which does not survive contact with egg yolk. Instead of giving up, she pivots mid-episode and accidentally invents a surprisingly delicious sprinkle sponge cake that may be the best thing she’s ever baked.Along the way, Robyn answers listener advice questions, talks about love, anxiety, wedding excitement, and why sometimes messing up is exactly how you end up with something better than the original plan. Mama Schall debuts her new motherly advice segment, reminding everyone to put the phone down at night and choose peace (and sitcoms). It’s messy, funny, heartfelt, and very on brand.🍞 Cloud Bread (The Original Plan)Ingredients3 large egg whites2½ tablespoons sugar1 tablespoon cornstarchFood coloring (optional)How to MakePreheat oven to 300°F (150°C).Separate egg whites carefully (no yolk — learn from our mistakes).Whip egg whites with a mixer until foamy and starting to stiffen.Gradually add sugar, then cornstarch, whipping until stiff peaks form.Fold in food coloring if using.Scoop onto a lined baking sheet, shape into a cloud.Bake 20–25 minutes until set and lightly golden.(Results may vary depending on yolk-related chaos.)🎂 Accidental Sprinkle Sponge Cake (The Pivot)Ingredients3 eggs2½ tablespoons sugar1 tablespoon cornstarch¼ cup flour½ teaspoon baking powderSplash of vanilla extractSprinkles (optional but encouraged)How to MakePreheat oven to 300°F.Whisk eggs, sugar, and cornstarch together.Add flour, baking powder, and vanilla.
