Schools Locked Down After False Threat | Spokane News

Schools across the East Valley district went into lockdown this morning after a suspicious report — but no threat was ever confirmed. The person who sparked the alarm had already left the area, and authorities quickly cleared the campuses. It’s all part of heightened caution following yesterday’s deadly incident, when a deputy shot and killed a man outside Evergreen Middle School after he allegedly threatened to harm students. After 30 minutes, schools switched to “secure and teach” mode before returning to normal operations. While it’s a relief no one was hurt, the episode underscores just how tense and vigilant school communities must remain in the wake of real or potential danger.
