Schwellenbach Could Return This Fall

Spencer Schwellenbach, Atlanta’s beleaguered but brilliant ace, could be back on the mound as early as August—after a brutal injury saga that included Tommy John surgery and a fractured elbow. With minor league rehab starts likely, his return could reshape the Braves’ rotation alongside Sale, Strider, and Elder into a playoff nightmare. Before his injury, he dominated with a 3.23 ERA, 235 Ks, and elite stuff. The Braves, already crushing the NL East by nine games, are poised for a World Series run—and Schwellenbach’s comeback might just be the final piece.
