Hans was born in Sweden and grew up in Nigeria and Austria. He originally trained as a medical doctor and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic before shifting his focus to theology. He received his Master of Divinity and then completed his Ph.D. in theological studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. His recent books are Defending Sin: A Response to the Challenges of Evolution and the Natural Sciences (Baker Academic, 2024) and Does Science Make God Irrelevant? (Crossway, 2025).
