Scott Barlow’s Royals Return Ends | Kansas City Royals News

Scott Barlow’s brief return to the Royals’ system ended abruptly as they released him from his minor league contract — another setback in a rough season for the veteran pitcher. Once a reliable closer for Kansas City with 56 saves, Barlow’s recent outings, including a stint with Oakland and now Omaha, have been plagued by high ERAs, low strikeouts, and declining velocity. Despite flashes of past form, his struggles persist, leaving his future uncertain as the postseason deadline looms — possibly heading back to the minors or waiting until offseason to rebuild.
