Scott von Ryper (The Black Ryder, The Jesus And Mary Chain)

from Performance Anxiety · host Marc Shea

Back in mid-July, I had the distinct pleasure of speaking with Scott von Ryper. Scott’s love of music stems from his dad’s passion for big band and family organ lessons as a child. He began playing in a band with his brother at age 11, doing covers. He began playing bass soon after. His first one being made from some wood he found under his house, clothesline wire, and some nails.  Once he got a proper bass, he began playing out, doing the biker bar circuit where fights would break out on the dance floor. After playing with the bands Scarlet and The Morning After Girls, Scott formed The Black Ryder with Aimee Nash. They were immediately asked to open shows for bands like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Jesus and Mary Chain, which Scott would later join as a touring guitarist. Scott is releasing his first solo album with a mix of songs that have been around for years and new music.  Scott shares so many great stories in this episode! So give him a follow @vonryper on Twitter & Instagram. And pick up his solo debut Dream State Treasure wherever & however you get new music.
