Soul Circle Radio Mix Series Vol.6 Sup Nasa(Ninetofive Records I Italy) @supnasa I've selected these songs because they are what I'm currently listening to these days. Some of them are just milestones and some are new entries. The mix has something of everything, jazzy vibes, strictly hip hop tunes and some modern beats. I try to listen to every genre or style so that I can broaden my horizons. When you make music you HAVE TO listen to everything. It's like if you try to become a good chef and you only eat eggplants, that's not going to work. I had to choose that first track because my love for hip hop is visceral, so it's like an ode to me and I always listen to that track everyday, just like I do for (at least) one Dilla's track. I started to mix songs not so long ago, so sorry for every mistakes that you are probably going to hear. I felt this need to play tracks together because it's quite unlikely to hear the music that I would like to listen to when I go to a club. And I guess that I share the same issue with a lot of people. So I started mixing at home, I'm still looking for the best setting in order to achieve what I want to do in a live show. I played live sometimes and the crowd's reaction was amazing so I'll definitely keep on trying to do some show. I started to get into hip hop when I first heard Eminem, way back in 2001 when ''Without me'' went crazy even over here in Italy. I was just 10, I didn't understand one word but the sound and the flow were so fascinating to me that I wanted to know more about that artist. Then I got into all the Aftermath squad and what was around it. Dre, Xzibit, 50 Cent, Snoop, Tupac and Biggie and so on. But it's when I heard ''Through the wire'' by Kanye West that I understood that I wanted to produce. I cannot explain how I felt when I first listened to the song. I was in the car with my family and the radio played this track, it was 2004. That high pitched sample really hit me. So I went home, I bought my first midi controller, an Akai Mpd16 and I started to understand how to sample and create a track. It's been more than 10 years and I don't think I'm the position that allows me to say ''Ok, I like the way I sound''. I'm still trying to improve my sound, and the way I really want my beats to sound like, but I'm almost there.
