Scream, Ghostface & Horror | The Queer Legacy of The Scream Franchise

Do you like scary movies? Same! Lets talk about the best — Scream (1996) — and unpack why it’s become a queer cult classic. From Kevin Williamson’s groundbreaking (and closeted) gay influence behind the script, to the homoerotic tension between Billy and Stu, we’re slashing through the subtext and revealing why Scream speaks so powerfully to the LGBTQ+ community. Host Josh Robert explores the film’s queer-coded characters, its camp legacy, and how the themes of identity, performance, and survival mirror the queer experience. Whether you’re a horror buff, a Ghostface groupie, or just living for spooky season vibes, this deep dive proves one thing — queers don’t just survive the horror movie… we steal the spotlight.
