Script Progress, Series vs. Movie, Documentary Consultation, & More - 10/30/2023: Vlog

from A Phil Svitek Podcast - A Series From Your 360 Creative Coach · host Phil Svitek

Welcome back to another week of my vlog, where I share insights into my creative journey, aiming to inspire and provide actionable takeaways for all of you. This week, I've made significant headway with my upcoming movie's script. From bullet point #27 in the outline to #65, progress is evident, even though each point doesn't hold equal weight. With a total of 117 points, there's still a substantial portion to cover, but the detailed outline is proving invaluable in keeping story details at the forefront of my mind while I continue to churn out more pages. An intriguing thought that surfaced this week revolves around the possibility of transforming this lengthy script into a limited series. The concept stems from the idea of a 3-hour movie with potential intermissions, but ultimately, considering the trilogy concept, why not divide it into three seasons, each consisting of two episodes? While it's a fun concept to ponder, it's not yet set in stone. The project will undoubtedly take the shape it requires. While my primary focus remains on the script, I've also been contemplating updating the pitch deck, albeit considering this post-script version. Additionally, I've been collaborating on a filmmaking how-to book with a ghostwriter, while my second novel and a short film project have taken a backseat for the time being. This week involved an extensive consultation on a documentary, a project where the creative journey has been fulfilling for the artist but requires that final 20% of work left to resonate with audiences. Cutting down the documentary to make it accessible for audiences has been challenging for the artist, a common struggle of letting go of beloved content for the sake of the project's coherence. I stumbled upon an intriguing TikTok tutorial utilizing AI for video creation (https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8kHhVLa/), prompting contemplation about the balance between AI tools and their potential misuse as shortcuts to success. Moreover, I discuss the value of transparency in life, mentioning the openness of sharing a therapy session with a friend and the transformative experience it offered, advocating for radical transparency to address societal problems. Finally, I touch upon the unsettling trend of job expectations pushing employees to clear work ahead of vacations and the habit of elongating shows beyond their prime. Join me in this diverse discussion encompassing creative endeavors, personal insights, and societal observations. Your thoughts and engagement are always welcomed. Stay inspired and keep creating! The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
