After sinking additional hours into this complex survival game, we're back with our updated thoughts.This time, we focused on understanding systems we previously criticized:* Trying (and sometimes failing) at base building - finding materials, placing flags.* Experiencing the unique wheelbarrow mechanic during resource runs.* Evaluating the looting system in different towns.* Getting a better handle on crafting and the intricate medical simulation (infections are no joke!).Despite finding some enjoyable elements, the core question remains: Is Scum's high barrier to entry and significant time requirement justified? We discuss if the game truly opens up after 50+ hours and whether the early game offers enough to keep players invested. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile.
