Sean Grayson Dies in Prison at 32 | Calgary News

Sean Grayson, the former Illinois deputy convicted of killing Sonya Massey in her home, has died at 32 while serving a 20-year sentence for second-degree murder. The tragic incident, captured on body cam, unfolded after Massey called 911 about a prowler — footage showed her crouching and apologizing before Grayson fired. Initially charged with first-degree murder, Grayson pleaded fear of hot water being thrown at him. Diagnosed with terminal colon cancer, he sought early release but was denied by Illinois authorities, who said his illness was already considered in sentencing. His death comes amid national reckoning: the Sonya Massey Act now mandates stricter police background checks, and Sangamon County agreed to a $10 million settlement for Massey’s family. Officials called his actions “inexcusable” and a betrayal of law enforcement standards. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
