Season 1 Episode 42: The Power of the Book Talk

In Episode 42 of the Staffroom Podcast, Chey and Pav talk about The Power of the Book Talk. Chey and Pav participated in a fantastic Book Talk meeting with a group of educators and the author of the book "From the Ashes," Jesse Thistle. During this conversation, Chey and Pav both learned a tremendous amount about the major themes of the book, as well as many other perspectives surrounding the memoir. Jesse offered so much insight into the writing of his memoir, including some of the interesting logistics with writing, as well as with recording the audio book. He provided the participants of the book talk with insight on how he wrote the book and what were the themes involved in writing it.  Book talks offer an incredible amount of value with regards to expanding teachers or readers deeper understanding of books. They allow for the reader to be able to see and understand perspectives that they would otherwise not be able to see. Book talks also offer teachers a deeper understanding of differing themes sot that they can teach a book better to their students. They also offer an opportunity to engage in discourse surrounding the parts of a book that otherwise would not emerge if we were simply reading and understanding a book on their own.  Chey and Pav introduce Natalie Vardabasso, an Instructional Designer from Calgary, Alberta, for their 3 Enlightened Minutes segment.
