Season 1 Episode 45: To Plan, or Not to Plan?

In Episode 45 of the Staffroom Podcast, Chey and Pav discuss some of their concerns about what the return to school might look like. They start the episode by talking about how they should be planning for the start of the new school year, when they don't quite know how they will be returning. Many districts and areas have not received notification on whether or not they will be back in the schools, or whether they will be teaching remotely, or a hybrid of the two.  Chey and Pav highlight some of the concerns they have with a return to face-to-face school, especially in light of already high or increasing numbers of COVID-19. They also discuss the benefits of embracing distance learning with all the new knowledge of technological resources that are available to us as teachers now. We have a real opportunity to put all this learning now into practice. Chey and Pav introduce Livia Chan, elementary school educator from Vancouver, British Columbia for their 3 Enlightened Minutes segment. Livia has the experience of being a teacher that has returned to school during the Covid pandemic, and she discusses the way the school was able to make this happen, and many of the protocols that have been followed.  After the 3 Enlightened Minutes segment, Chey and Pav wrap up by discussing more of the issues that could arise with a return to face-to-face schooling, when the risk of Covid still greatly exists.  Remember to Inspire, Don't Require, always be a Humble Servant, and Education Never Dies.
