Season 1: Episode 9 - The SEGA PlayStation: Gaming's Alternate Timeline

Welcome to yet another episode of The SegaGuys RetroPod! On this weeks show, James & Dan take another trip into SEGA's past, to a moment which proved pivotal in the direction the gaming industry would take. In 1993, SEGA of America led by Tom Kalinske came close to forging a deal with Sony which would see the two Japanese tech giants join forces, creating the proverbial uber console and in doing so alter the course of both companies making them unrecognisable today. As fate would have it, SEGA of Japan led by Hayao Nakayama, vetoed the deal, citing that Sony were not experienced enough in the gaming field and therefore not worthy partners. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.
