He co-wrote hit songs for Rufus and Chaka Khan (#1 "You Got the Love" in 1974) and Barry White ("You See the Trouble with Me”), “Honey Cone”, “Chairmen of the Board”. He created and played his funk sound with the Temptations, the Spinners, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and the Rolling Stones.
