Season 2, Episode 14, Old Bay, All Day, Guest Douglas Boone

from Talking with Donato · host Donato

The Professor Douglas Boone, Jr. began his love affair with radio broadcasting when he was a youngster when he saw the photographs of local Disc Jockeys on the wall of a retail establishment in his native Baltimore and receiving a two-transistor radio when he was ten years old. He would place the radio under his pillow to listen to local stations by day and AM stations across the country at night. He attended Hampton University in Virginia where he began to hone his on-air skills on the campus radio station WHOV-FM. Upon graduation he continued his radio career while working weekends at WILD and WCAS in Boston Massachusetts and later at community supported KEOS-FM in College Station/Bryan, Texas. This is where he established the “Professor” moniker due to the proximity to Texas A&M. He came to KAZI-FM in 2022 where he first hosted a weekly Quiet Storm program before transitioning to Mornings with Douglas weekday mornings. The greatest influence on his on-air style was the late Frankie Crocker of WBLS-FM in New York City. He is retired from the Texas Lottery Commission. The “Professor” enjoys playing golf, traveling and spending time with his wife Debra Dibble Boone.
