Season 2 Episode 20 Sri Lanka: The Easter Church Bombings
from Closer to the Fire with Greg Musselman · host Greg Musselman
On Easter Sunday, 2019, in Sri Lanka’s largest city and commercial capital of Colombo, Christians had gathered to remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That April morning, three churches, along with three luxury hotels, were targeted in a series of coordinated attacks by suicide bombers. A total of 269 people were killed and at least 500 others were injured. Among the organizations that helped in the aftermath was the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL), a valued ministry partner of The Voice of the Martyrs Canada. As we approach the third anniversary of those horrific attacks, Closer to the Fire host Greg Musselman speaks with Yamini Ravindran, the Director of Legal and Advocacy for the NCEASL, about VOM Canada’s support of our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters in Christ. Yamini also provides an update on the situation of persecution currently facing Christians in this South Asian island nation.
