Season 2 Podcast 5 Ignoble Ease and Peaceful SlothToday we are going to talk about the move from a Republican form of government to Socialism. Socialism may be dressed in the star-spangled banner of freedom, but it will always lead to misery, captivity, and slavery.  Only absolutes can be truly opposite.  Everything else is subject to manipulation, interpretation, logical fallacies, and squirming definitions.  Those in our country who lead the revolution against our democratic republic, whose consciences, as Paul said, are “seared with a hot iron” assume that if they can legislate morality, they can control the conscience of a nation and thus rule the very details of our lives.  They are attempting to replace the absolute standards taught in Holy Writ with the sliding ethics of political correctness. The poet William Butler Yeats describes our day: “The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.” I dread the loss of freedom and the suffering that is happening while our politicians yawn and stretch.  In our modern world we create the gods that reflect our standards and clothe them in the royal robes of rebellion, condemning everything that is traditional.  Our nation was founded on the united belief by our forefathers that the true God set the standards.  Our modern world is founded on the principle that old standards are outdated, and new standards are progressive.  Our modern world condemns the Christian God and replaces him with up-to-date gods that are more agreeable to their progressive lifestyles.  We have disconnected sin from absolute law and attached it to any outcry against human rights, legalized pleasures, and legislated prurience.   In a nutshell then, the problem in Washington today is that they are no longer ruled by absolute standards of liberty as defined by our forefathers.  The liberals are creating a new model to replace our old democratic republic.  The so-called conservatives, rather than rejecting the new model, rather than fighting for liberty, rather than standing up for our Bill of Rights and protecting our Constitution, rather than all this, they are ignoring the old model defined in our Declaration of Independence.  They are compromising the old values and helping the liberals dress the new model with the royal robes of the past while leaving the new model intact. They simply cover its nakedness with silken language, patriotic garments, and the marching music of John Philip Sousa.  Look at the chaos in our country today. Consequences, not rhetoric, are the true measure of intent.  All of the confusion in our nation today is a result of America moving away from the values of the past upon which our government was founded. But my concern is that there appears to be no leaders in Washington in either party. Ron, do our leaders even understand what it means to have a republican form of government.  They cannot even restore that which has been lost because they no longer have the model.  No one seems to see what is happening. Rather than builders, conservative politicians  are reactionaries who compromise with those who are seeking to destroy our liberty.4 RONTo restore our former freedom, they must burn with the former fires of freedom, but I am not sure they know what freedom is.  Our politicians, though ignorant of liberty, understand propaganda and personal power very well.  To assuage the grumbling mob made dependent by entitlements, they cry out against tyranny with sweltering words and wallowing filibuster, but organize no attack, form no plan, create no opposition, and make no stand.  They don’t do anything; they merely wish to be seen as if they were doing something.  Can you even imagine putting the fate of America during the Revolutionary War in the hands of modern-d
