Season 3. Ep 13: Earth Month - Shawn Cable: Did You Know How Much Can Be Made From a Recycled Mattress?!

Earth month is bringing us so many incredible guests and THIS is another one to make sure you gather information from.If you didn't know; mattresses and car seats ARE recyclable! You just need to find the right location and ReMatt is one of those locations, right here in Calgary, Alberta.Our guest today, Shawn Cable, started ReMatt in 2014 when he learned just how many mattresses were ending up in landfills and learning just how much space they take up. His approximate guess is that, not including the 50,000 they recycle each year; the mattresses still ending up in landfills could fill up McMahon Stadium 5 times, and stacked 10 high. That's a LOT of mattresses. One of the biggest goals of this episode is raise awareness to how we can better recycle these products that we ALL use, what their materials get turned into and how we can help make a bigger difference by not just recycling our own mattresses but encouraging our city or residence to make this a more accessible program.
