Season 3, Episode 12- Alex Mohamed, Program Specialist at JaysCare

In this week's episode of the podcast, the squad sits down with SPMA alumnus and current Program Specialist at JaysCare, Alex Mohamed! Alex begins the show by sharing his career mindset of open-mindedness, along with a willingness to adapt to sudden change (9:51). He reflects on his time at Brock as a SPMA student, particularly with his involvement on the Brock Intramurals staff as a coordinator (14:00), his time with the City of Brampton as a Programmer of Summer Camps and Sport Specialist (18:00), and the transferrable skills that he picked up along the way, which has impacted his current role.  Alex then talks to us about his tenure at JaysCare, and starts off by reflecting on the impact that organizational initiatives have on certain groups (21:20), especially with RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) and Indigenous community programs. Within those programs, he explains the process behind effective program management, with the core being embedded with community input and involvement (28:48). Finally, Alex shares an amazing story about one of the very first JaysCare programs that he ran up in a remote Indigenous community in Northern Saskatchewan (36:15-40:10).
