Temporal Law Vs. Spiritual Law Pt I: The Nihilism of Science vs the Optimism of ChristianityIs anything greater than law?  In this Podcast we shall talk about Temporal Law versus Spiritual law. God is the author of all laws, temporal and spiritual, though everything to God is spiritual. When we speak of temporal law, we speak of the laws of nature, the laws of science, the laws of temporal creation. When we speak of spiritual law, we think of the laws of God, the law of justice, the law of mercy, the commandments of God, the Holy Scriptures, the laws of immortality. There are some key assumptions we must understand about law.1.     God does everything through law. 2.     All laws of God are absolute.3.     All blessings are based upon obedience to law.4.     All cursings are based upon disobedience to law.5.     No laws can contradict other laws: temporal laws cannot contradict spiritual laws and spiritual laws cannot contradict temporal laws.6.     All miracles are based upon law.7.     Only law brings order out of chaos. Where there is no law, there is chaos.8.     All laws are created or organized by God using the self-existing elements of the opposing forces of matter and energy. 9.     All laws have conditions, and it is the conditions of law that give us freewill, agency, and liberty.10.  All laws are organized into groups to carry out the purposes of God and all groups are organized under one controlling law which is the law of justice.11.  All planets, solar systems, galaxies, clusters of galaxies, etc., are governed by law.12.  Spiritual laws govern irreducible matter; temporal laws govern reducible matter which is another way of saying that temporal laws govern temporal matter, spiritual laws govern spiritual matter.13.  All sin is violation of law. Without law there is no sin.There are, of course a hundred more assumptions, and each assumption above leads to even more assumptions such as sin is not arbitrary, punishment is not arbitrary, if you want a blessing from God, obey the law that gives you that blessing. Miracles cannot violate law, and so on. If possible, we could follow the assumptions until everything is known. However, one must stop somewhere. In Part 1 I want to focus on why there is a split between science and religion. One of my favorite scriptures deals with law.  It is Psalm I. PSALM 11 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.The laws referred to by King David are the spiritual laws. All spiritual laws have a moral component. They also have conditions. You may obey or disobey a spiritual law. Obedience brings a blessing; disobedience brings a cursing. Spiritual laws are the conditions imposed on the law of mercy by the law of justice. Through knowledge of spiritual laws, we determine good and evil. Obeying spiritual laws is moral; disobeying spiritual laws is immoral. Sin is disobedience to the laws of Christ.
