Season 3 Podcast 64 The Law of Liberty

The Law of LibertyIf we want liberty, we must return to the law of liberty. The law of liberty is defined by James in the Holy Bible:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. (James 2:10-12)Where do we find the commandments, “Thou shalt not commit adultery” and “thou shalt not kill”?  In the Ten Commandments of course. They are part of the last five commandments. Listen to the last five commandments as Linda reads them and try to imagine how America would change If all government officials, all members of the press, all captains of industry, and indeed all of us applied them in our lives. Thousands of laws could be stricken from the books and we would be a free nation once again. Prices would plummet, jails would empty, no more passwords, no more locks and keys.  Our cities and towns and communities and streets would be safe. The list is endless.6.   Thou shalt not kill.7.    Thou shalt not commit adultery.8.    Thou shalt not steal.9.    Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.10.  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.The five laws above are summed up in what James calls The Royal Law2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. (James 2:2-9)It can also be called “The Law of Equality” for it says “If ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.” If we lived the royal law perfectly all laws could be stricken from the books.  But, of course, the Millennium is not here, and we must live in our present-day reality. However, freedom will not be reestablished in this land until our laws are in harmony with the law of liberty.
