Season 3 Podcast 70 Titles of the Premortal Christ Pt A
from A New Voice of Freedom · host Ronald
Titles of the Premortal Christ Pt ALinda and I are going to celebrate the Easter Season throughout the month of April by focusing primarily on the life of Christ. Today’s podcast will expand the theme introduced in Podcasts 45 and 46 entitled Titles of Christ. In those podcasts discussing the Letters of John to the Seven Churches in Asia, we introduced the titles of Christ given in the Book of Revelation. However, we did not have time to discuss the titles. We merely listed them. In this podcast we wish to list some of the titles found in the Old and New Testaments and discuss them in greater detail. The titles in the Holy Scriptures cover three phases of the life of Christ: The Premortal Christ, or his life primarily discussed in the Old Testament, before Christ came to earth. The Mortal Christ, or the life of Christ primarily discussed in the New Testament that describes the life of Christ on Earth, and the Resurrected Christ as found in the Book of Revelation. Podcast 70 Will discuss the titles of the Premortal Christ Pt A. Podcast 73 will discuss the titles of the Premortal Christ Pt B. I shall begin with one of the most famous scenes in the Old Testament: Moses and the Burning Bush.Moses records the story as follows:Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. (Exodus 3:1-6)Notice that the phrase, “I am” precedes the four titles:1. I Am the Lord God of your fathers2. I am the God of Abraham3. I am the God of Isaac4. I am the God of Jacob. When Moses asks the Lord the name by which he should be called, the Lord gives a very peculiar answer:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. (Exodus 3:13-15
