Heirs of Salvation Titles of the Mortal Christ Pt AKnowing Christ is the single most important thing we can learn on this earth. In John we read20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (1 John 5:20)Understanding the different titles of Christ helps us to understand who Christ is. There is one title of Christ that is a difficult concept for us mortals to relate to. We live in a melting world, a world subject to entropy where nothing remains the same. But the title of Christ is8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8)We can imagine it, but we can’t comprehend it, not really. We may fantasize about immortality, but we fantasize from a mortal perspective. We ever walk in “the valley of the shadow of death.”  Just yesterday, Linda and I were driving down River Road along the Pidgeon River, in East One must begin somewhere, so I suppose beginning with Christ as creator is a pretty good place to start.  2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (Hebrews 1:2)It was Christ who created the worlds, meaning everything we see in the heavens, including the earth. It takes a while for that to sink in. We also learn from the above that Christ is the Son of God, the Father, and that the Father appointed Christ to be the heir of all things. We also learn that Christ created the worlds under the direction of the father. That should make the following statement by Paul especially important to all Christians.17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:17)The Father made Christ heir of all things.  Christ made us joint ’heirs with him in all things. In other words, the Father Gave the Son all he had, and the Son is willing to give us all that he has.  But it is conditional upon our obedience to his commandments. “That we suffer with him” means that we must expect suffering. The idea that we must “suffer with him” shows that God knows that it is not going to be easy. We tend to think that good should be rewarded, but in the reality of our world, good is often punished. The scriptures use the phrase “he that overcomes” or he that “endures to the end” to describe those who become heirs of God. Sometimes life seems like an endurance. On the other hand, there are many references to our becoming joint heirs with Christ.29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:29)7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (Galatians 4:7)7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of t they will not be “glorified together” with Christ, whose glory is like that of the sun.
