Season 4 Ep.#8 - Dylan Carlson - Earth

A true pioneer of sound and a sonic wizard of tone, Dylan Carlson has had his thumb on the pulse of all things heavy and mediative for over three decades now. First forming Earth in 1989, the name inspired by the humble beginings of Sabbath, Carlson was already ahead of the curve with what he envisioned for his band. Long song structures, isolated riffs and the attention span of a sherpa upon a Nepalese mountain top, but maybe he was a little too ahead of curve back in those days... With the ressurection of not only the music and the band, but of Carlson himself, Earth has been one of the most consistent forces of nature and ancient practises for the last 15 years. With 2008's release of "The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull" really changing the status and trajectory of the band, Earth has stood the test of time and have solidified their place among the stars. It was a true honor speaking with the legend and getting to know him on many different levels. Carlson has been through alot, to say the least, but one things for certain, he's not going anywhere no matter how bad the world may seem at times! That's when great art is made and this guys are a great example of people rising to the occasion and truly reflecting that. Enjoy!
