Between the atrocities committed to the reaction of the world to it there is a sense of tumbling into the bleakness of the human mind that I have never experienced before. Friends, good friends of mine, were in denial. From the first day I heard, "That's not true, babies weren't beheaded, women weren't raped," they wrote or told me on the phone. I don't know what I would have done if I had been face to face with them. (I was moving up to northern California. Thank G_d for small mercies.) I knew it was so. If I said, "Yes I am a Zionist, this is the Jews' ancestral land," I was yelled at. This happened over a period of weeks. Truth is when your husband dies (on Valentine's Day, the day he was supposed to come home, killed by the hospital system) nothing can shake your resolve or question what you know in your heart to be true. For me the worst had happened. Just to be clear I can't wait to hear that Netanyahu and his cronies have been ousted.
