Season 4 I Episode 3: Catch up with the Chief 2

Our Chief Executive, Dr Maria O’Kane and Chair Eileen Mullan have met with political representatives to ·         discuss key issues and developments and·         respond to matters that are being raised with them by their constituents.Main areas discussed included busy Emergency Departments and broader pressures on hospital and community services. Maria explained that political leaders can support us by helping explain the importance of timely discharge and the absolute need to take people home when they are ready to go home. Maria highlighted the harm that can come to patients – especially the frail elderly – if they stay in hospital after they are medically fit for discharge.
