Season 4 Podcast 193 The Stories of the New Testament, Matthew Ch 22:23-33, Pt 6, “The Abrahamic Covenant B.”God kept his promises to Abraham. However, those blessings are eclipsed by the spiritual blessings. The spiritual blessings have no expiration date.  In other words, they are eternal.1.     I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, 2.     I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. 3.     In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”4.     All the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. What are we to make of terms such as everlasting covenant, everlasting possession, to the seed forever?  And all families of the earth be blessed? We know the earth has an end. Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3:“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”That appears to contradict the covenant made to Abraham. How is it then that the Abrahamic Covenant is an everlasting or eternal covenant as communicated in the language above: everlasting covenant, everlasting possession, thy seed forever. It can only refer to one thing. It refers to the earth after it has melted with fervent heat and becomes celestialized as recorded in Revelation 21. In other words, just like man, the earth is resurrected. That means that like man, the earth has a living spirit. If the earth did not have a living spirit, nature could not live and reproduce. In Revelation 21 John speaks of the resurrection of the earth.1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.That is the only way that God can fulfill his covenant to Abraham. Only if the earth is made an everlasting home to the just can it meet the requirements of 1.     an everlasting covenant, 2.     an everlasting possession. 3.     to thy seed forever. To prove that Christ, in his teachings about the Kingdom of God is referring to the Abrahamic Covenant, let’s compare John 21 with the Beatitudes. The parallelism may surprise you.1.     In the Beatitudes it says, ·      “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. In John above it says, “7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God.”
