(Season 5) Before You Hit Send: Creating a Conversation around Using Electronic Devices Responsibly
from straighttalkwithcathy · host Cathy Robinson Pickett
Technology has come so far and so fast! Long gone are the days of the 56k dial-up Internet connection and mobile phones the size of Zack Morris' phone on the hit TV show Saved by the Bell. Parents are giving their children as young as seven and eight years old brand new mobile devices. To get a sense of how many cellphones are really out there, listen to this new statistic released by the United Nations last month. Six billion people around the world have cellphones, but only 4.5 billion people have access to a clean a clean toilet! In this episode, I'm starting a conversation on Straight Talk with Cathy about taking responsibility (no matter what age you are) when it comes to using mobile devices. Sexting and cyber bullying are becoming huge issues for K-12 and college students these days. We have to start talking about this issue more and educating youth and adults to make healthy and safe decisions when it comes to texting, posting words and images on social media sites and even being careful with emails. http://straighttalkwithcathy.com http://twitter.com/straighttalkpod
