In this episode of the Workforce Connections Podcast, we meet Mylo Lopez, principal architect, designer, and founder of MyloFleur. Born in Corona, California, to immigrant parents from Mexico, Mylo spent her childhood crossing between Mexicali and Calexico before her family settled in Las Vegas. She attended Las Vegas Academy, where she majored in Japanese and studied abroad in Japan, and later earned her degree in landscape architecture at UNLV. This path combined her love of design with her professors’ encouragement to see plants and spaces as a form of storytelling.Mylo’s career began while helping her mother with event work at MGM Resorts, where she became captivated by floral design and the way flowers could transform spaces. This passion grew into MyloFleur, a company that has worked on everything from weddings and large-scale casino events to the Grammys after-party in Las Vegas. Today, Mylo and her team are contributing to the new Civic Center Campus in downtown Las Vegas, creating biophilic design elements that bring life and emotion into public spaces.Her creative process is deeply influenced by her dyslexia, which taught her to see the world through color, texture, and movement rather than words. This perspective allows her to connect with clients on an emotional level, turning events into experiences that people remember for a lifetime. She also prioritizes sustainability, often donating or repurposing floral materials rather than letting them go to waste. Outside of her business, Mylo is a pianist, an avid reader, and the founder of Land to Land, a nonprofit supporting refugees in Mexico. She values creating quiet retreat spaces for reflection and creativity, a balance that keeps her grounded while giving back to her community.Mylo’s advice for young people is rooted in her own journey: honor your heritage and your parents, avoid comparisons, and become the architect of your own life.
